Bjørn Riis stands among Norway’s most acclaimed and prolific artists in the progressive rock genre. An accomplished songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, Bjørn has achieved worldwide recognition both as a founding member of Airbag and through an increasingly celebrated solo career.
Pointing towards a new musical direction, Divergence explores different shades of Bjørn Riis’ songwriting. A four-track mini-album featuring all-new material, largely written during the Fimbulvinter sessions, Divergence is closely connected to Fimbulvinter and the live mini album Lifandi, released earlier this year, completing a deeply personal trilogy and journey.
The single Mercy is a sombre, atmospheric piece featuring a duet with Norwegian artist Mimmi Tamba, alongside Bjørn’s evocative guitar playing. A song about change and hope, it also nods to the American singer-songwriter tradition that has been a recurring influence throughout Bjørn’s music.
Divergence features Bjørn Riis on all instruments, with longtime collaborator Vegard Kleftås Sleipnes handling mixing and mastering. The striking cover image, shot by Bjørn at Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse in Denmark, reflects themes of contrast and change. Cover design by Airbag frontman Asle Tostrup.

Pre-orders are shipped around one or two weeks before the release date.
EU: We are registered with the IOSS (Import one stop shop) portal in the European Union for reporting and paying EU VAT. All orders with a total goods value (excluding VAT) under the 150 € IOSS threshold, are processed through this system to simplify import procedures. In most cases this will mean that you get your package directly with no further ado. However, some countries have additional tariffs that are applied in addition to VAT. These are subject to payment by importer/customer. Orders with a gods value exceeding the 150 € IOSS threshold are subject to VAT processing and payment during import. These costs will be invoiced by freight forwarder to importer/customer.
Norway: VAT is charged per order and your package will, unless you select shipping from our EU location, be sent from Bergen.
Other countries: Orders are subject to local import tax and tariffs to be paid by customer/importer.
