The collaboration worked so well that the pair decided to work together again on a whole album.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eSolstein is not your typical 2020s fusion affair. A lot of inspiration has been taken from the funkier, more melodic end of the spectrum, with the band name-dropping \u003cstrong\u003eThe Crusaders\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eIdris Muhammed\u003c\/strong\u003e, early \u003cstrong\u003eBob James\u003c\/strong\u003e and 70s \u003cstrong\u003eHerbie Hancock\u003c\/strong\u003e. Given some of the member’s prog backgrounds, there are also echoes of the jazzier side of prog, like \u003cstrong\u003eCamel\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eHappy the Man \u003c\/strong\u003eand some of the\u003cstrong\u003e Canterbury scene \u003c\/strong\u003ebands. Holm-Lupo and Carlock’s shared love of \u003cstrong\u003eSteely Dan\u003c\/strong\u003e also shines through in a number of tracks.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eMore than anything, though, Solstein is a playground for the musicians, where everyone was given free reins to do whatever they felt the music needed. If it put a smile on everyone’s face, it was deemed right.
